Weddings
Are you having fun yet? Yes, wedding planning is supposed to be fun! I'm here to make the music part easy for you. Whether you want to walk down the aisle to the obscure song that came on Spotify when you first saw her across the room, or you've had your heart set on perfectly traditional Pachelbel since you were 5, or even if you have no foggy idea what you want, I've got you covered for the ceremony and reception of your dreams.
Special Events
I've played in churches and barns, on porches and boats, in concert halls and skyscrapers, and of course, on mountains. Thank God the violin is so portable. No matter how unusual or ordinary your location, it's my pleasure to bring live music to your special event. Either as a soloist or with a guitar or piano accompanist, or even with a 5-member flatfootin' string band, I will set the perfect tone for your gathering.
Lessons
Violin may be one of the hardest instruments to learn. But with the individualized instruction I offer, you can make rewarding progress, no matter what your age or experience level. If you feel drawn to learning the violin or giving lessons to your child, please listen to that instinct. My parents did, and I can't imagine not having what violin gives me: expression and community. My teachers taught at Juilliard and performed at Carnegie Hall, and I pass on that world-class instruction to my students.
Improv Recording
A friend once told me that for him the violin is the sound of pure emotion. No wonder it feels so vulnerable, especially on the big screen. Collaborating with filmmakers and sound designers on several short films for Experimental Film Virginia goes something like this: after absorbing the visual experience of the piece, I compose and perform a soundtrack on the spot. More exhilarating than sky diving! Wait, I haven't been sky diving... yet. Who needs a violinist for their skydiving wedding?
